80+60=25: Innovative Sounds in Brooklyn!
Jeff and Laurie have sheltered in place in Brooklyn since March. The infection rate in their area was so high that for a while the only place they could go for fresh air was the roof of their building! In spite of this the creative juices have been flowing! Here is a lovely video for two Native American Flutes.
Jeff Adler:
The name of this piece is 80+60=25. No, I'm not that bad in math. Let me explain. A while back, two good friends of mine, Bob and Fran Henry had a big celebration which they called 80+60=25. This was to commemorate Bob's 80th birthday, Fran's 60th birthday and their 25th wedding anniversary. I wrote this piece special for the occasion. Unfortunately, it was canceled because of a blizzard (remember those?)The piece is scored for two Native American Flutes. One is a double drone flute and both are in the key of A. Laurie and I actually performed this work a few years later at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Anyway, here we are quarantined together in our Brooklyn apartment (we are married after all)- two musicians with no where to perform. So we figured, let's make a music video and 80+60=25 immediately came to mind. The backdrop includes a wonderful painting by the artist, Zack Podgorny that Laurie commissioned. This painting is featured on Hevreh's second album, Between Worlds. Enjoy and stay safe!
